My husband and I pulled up to the front entrance of the Marriott in Vancouver and before we knew it, my car door was flung open by a bellman that greeted us with a smile, “Welcome! We’ve been waiting for you!”
Even though each guest was most likely greeted the same way, his genuine expression of hospitality made a huge impact on our day.
Here’s the thing about sharing with others in a hospitable way: We can do it no matter where we are. We can have a welcoming demeanor and open-hearted (and open-handed!) attitude anywhere. It just takes a little willingness and life perspective.
All around us are people in need of a delightful surprise. What can you do to:
…lift the spirits of those around you?
…help people feel seen, known, and loved?
…be a delightful surprise to someone’s soul?
It may mean speaking a kind word. It could be sharing a bright smile. It could be giving them the gift of a listening ear or a prayer spoken in faith. Whatever you possess — materially or emotionally — determine to be a person who regularly and cheerfully shares what they have.
Be the type of person that no matter where you go or where you are, you always add value to those around you.
