Influence is a choice. Your influence will be either a plus or a minus in the lives of others.
People who add value to others, do so intentionally. One way to make sure you use your influence to add value to people is to intentionally help them. Here are some ways to do that:
Practice the 30-second rule. Say something positive to a person the first 30-seconds you are with them.
Place a 10 on their head. The first way to help other people believe in themselves, is to actually believe in them. Place a 10 on their head. From the very beginning, assume the best about them and choose to believe it.
Compliment people in front of other people. Everyone likes a sincere compliment…especially in front of others.
Be the first to help. The first person to offer a helping hand is always remembered. Don’t wait for others. Help first.
Be an encourager. Encouragement is the oxygen for the soul. Everyone does better when encouraged.
Listen with your heart. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
Reflection…
When you look at these ideas, what grabs you? Why is that?
Write down the names of the people that have added tremendous value to your life. What did they say or do to land on this list?
Whose list will I be on?
Remember…People who add value to others, do so intentionally. What are you doing – every day – to intentionally add value to those around you?
