Have you made a choice about which attitude you will have today?

It sounds silly since you can’t see an attitude, but doing it before you start your day is essential. And choosing to have a good one is one of the most incredible choices you will make today. You’d be surprised how something so simple can change the course of your day.

Think about it this way, “What do people get when they get you?” “What’s the ripple effect of you?” It matters. And the choice is ours.

Choose to look at life with a positive filter. Here’s why.

Positive emotion energizes you; it expands your grittiness – your ability to deal with adversity and stress. It draws you forward, inspires creativity, and empowers you to live with a hope-infused mindset. Confidence derives from a positive attitude; confident people are dealers of hope and create ripple effects worth being around.

A positive attitude is fundamental to fulfillment and happiness. It improves our relationships and willingness to be open to new ideas, people, and conversations. It also enhances our overall well-being and health.  

Here are some suggestions that will position you toward positivity…

Live alert to the conversations you dwell in and associate with. Pay attention to who and what is influencing you. Be intentional about stepping away from negativity. Do not let people pull you into their storm; instead, pull them into your peace.

Own your thought life. Be intentional in removing judgment, comparison, complaining, and critical opinions from your thoughts – especially about yourself. (Try not to say anything negative for 24 hours and see how your life changes!)

Celebrate progress. Be intentional about logging your daily progress. A pattern of positive achievement develops positive thoughts and traction. What we focus on expands. (Here’s a tool.)

Choose positive self-talk. The words we use matter. The conversations we replay in our heads matter. Be intentional about speaking in ways that do not injure.

Lift your head. Add value to others. Be intentional in using your strength to carry up the most hearts. (Draw inspiration here.)

Stay away from getting into other people’s business. Instead, draw boundaries that must be placed around your sanity and energy to keep a positive focus. Do not let the pressures of other people’s choices and expectations complicate your life; instead, follow your heart and behave wisely.

Positive thinking is more than just a tagline. It changes the way we behave. And I firmly believe that being positive makes me better and those around me better.
