“One of the greatest gifts we’ll ever receive is the gift to make choices.”
Every day, people ask how they can make their world better. They want to know what they need to do to improve their lives, leadership, careers, etc. The answer is always the same regardless of the environment: start improving yourself! How? By making good choices.
If we want the world to improve, we must become better people. We need to be the change we want to see. We do this by becoming intentional about our choices. When we do that, we put ourselves in a place where we can add value to ourselves and others.
John Maxwell states, “One of the most significant discoveries of my life was realizing that wise choices put ‘change in the pocket’ for future choices. But, of course, you can’t change yesterday. You can’t count on tomorrow. But you can choose what you do today.”
Every day, we’ll be faced with choices. The decisions we make in those moments may seem small at the time, but when added together, they create a course for our lives and influence.
Life is full of choices! All day, every day. We not only have to make choices, but they also make us. Choices powerfully shape our lives. The beauty of choice is that if we want a better result, all we have to do is make a better choice.
We don’t get better by chance; we get better by choice. So, where do we start? With ourselves! We are often tempted to want to change others, especially those close to us. We say, “If they got better, my life would be better.” That is not true. When we get better, our lives will be better!
Power Statement: Today, I will make good choices that will positively impact me and others.
Reflection: What daily choice can I make, starting today, that will positively impact my family and friends?
