"Peace isn’t the destination; peace is the way." – A.J. Muste
My passion is guiding people to take responsibility for who they are and how they show up consistently – toward themselves, those they get to do everyday life with, and the communities they influence professionally.
As leaders, we get to hold ourselves to higher standards, work diligently on who we are, and be deliberate in not letting people pull us into their storms; instead, we get to pull them into our peace. We get to make decisions and take decisive actions that bring rest to our souls. This doesn’t happen by being passive. We will not have peace unless we seek it. We must pursue it and refuse to live without it.
Leading with peace is essential; it’s something we crave. People need leaders who are doing the following:
Leading from a place of peace. Leaders often lead through uncertainty. In these times, leaders need internal peace to combat external pressure. We’re more likely to feel stress and even perpetuate conflict if we aren't at peace internally.
Leading with a posture of peace. If it is possible, live at peace with everyone. Good leaders don’t leave peace to happenstance. They can stay focused on what needs to be done while simultaneously cultivating peace in relationships. And when conflict does arise, good leaders approach it with the right attitude and spirit so peace is a more likely outcome.
Peace should mark our lives in our leadership. It should be our attitude and our aim.
Intentionally Own It Reflection: On a scale of 1 to 10, how well do you lead from a place of peace? What growth do you get to move toward that will foster more profound peace in your soul? How committed are you to this layer of personal growth?
