Over the next week, pay attention to how many times you’re given the opportunity to be offended or take things personally. When you choose to live aware in this space, you’ll realize how often the chance to “let it go” or “shake it off” is offered.

There’s a huge amount of freedom that comes to you when you choose to not take things personally! Whatever happens around you, don’t take it personally. Nothing other people do is because of you. It is because of themselves. If you take things personally, you are choosing to eat their emotional garbage.

Most of us, to some extent, need to be delivered from the fear of people in from caring too much about what others think. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, and you refuse to take things personally, you avoid many upsets in your life.

Through the years, I’ve learned to recognize what triggers me. You know - those seemingly innocuous things people might say or do that can send us spiraling. What about you? What are your experiences that work to undermine your joy, your confidence, your hope, your faith, and your ability to endure?

I have found that we will always be too much for some people, and not enough for others. Some people will like us, and some people won’t. And some people will inadvertently say things that trigger an earthquake of emotion in our hearts. It just happens. But the good news is, we don’t have to stay in a negative spiral. We can choose to “let it go” or “shake it off”.
