A good person is a gift to the whole world!
How do you define goodness? People often think of goodness as benevolence or good deeds. However, it’s also moral character that emphasizes uprightness of the heart.
There are two ways to lead with goodness – in every area of your life:
Lead with goodness by being good. Leaders have a responsibility to lead by example. Lead by example in five areas: speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.
Speech is about what we say and how we talk.
Conduct is about our integrity and behavior.
Love is about our relationships with people.
Faith is about where we place our trust.
Purity is about our morals.
As leaders, we are called to model goodness by being the kind of leader described above.
Lead with goodness by doing good. Not only should we be good, but we should also do good. We were created to do good works. We prioritize doing the greatest good with our natural giftedness when we lead with goodness. You have been entrusted with gifts, abilities, skills, influence, money, and time. How are you using those resources to enrich the people around you? Are you leading for your gain, or are you leading for the good of others?
Leaders lead by who they are and what they do. Being and doing are within our control. Healthy leaders choose to model goodness.
Leading by being is all about character. Leading by doing is all about the good you bring about. Goodness is not about doing elaborate things to gain recognition. Often, the small acts of goodness we do throughout our days mean the most to those around us.
Intentionally Own It Reflection: What is the goodness you delivered this month through your leadership influence? What steps can you take to accomplish the good works to which you’ve been called?
