Over the past weeks, our Monday messages have focused on the potential theme. Why? Because each of us has significant amounts of it. However, we sometimes hold back or express it in limited ways, as embracing our potential can be intimidating. Stepping into our potential takes us far beyond our comfort zone—often and continually.

It takes courage to use our gifts boldly. When we do, we can expect doubts, fears, insecurities, and comparisons to creep in. If we allow these negative voices to take control, we might scale back and remain safe, small, and unfulfilled.

However, we can reframe these voices by positioning them positively. When we view our potential as a gift meant to be shared with the world, we see it as a privilege to use and expand.

Thomas Edison once said, “If we did all the things we are capable of doing, we would literally be astounded and astonished.” Let’s embrace this idea and take the daring step to discover what we truly are made for. It’s a privilege to pursue our true potential!

Shockingly, most people perceive themselves far below their capabilities.

In his book No Limits, John Maxwell discusses the Capacity Challenge: by increasing our awareness, developing our abilities, and making the right choices, we can reach our full potential.

Are you living your life in a way that undermines your potential because you fear what others will say or think? If we constantly worry about others' opinions, we will never have the courage to take risks and work towards our greatest giftedness. Those negative voices are like thieves; if we allow them to rob us of our potential, we will never be able to wholeheartedly contribute our unique gifts to the world.

Fear and self-doubt are often the greatest enemies of human potential. We will never truly experience our fullest capabilities unless we push ourselves to seek them out—overcoming the internal and external voices that attempt to undermine our efforts.

By letting our light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same.

Intentionally Own It! What personalized growth does this message encourage me to pursue, and what makes this matter? When I act on this, what value will it add to my life and the lives of others?
