The life story of James Gill fascinates me. Here’s why…
First of all, James Gill owns multiple businesses with over 400 team members, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year multiple times, has performed more cataract eye surgeries than anyone else in the world, and has given millions of dollars to colleges, charities, and YMCA’s across the country.
But that’s not all.
Dr. James Pitzer Gills II is the only man in the world to have completed the Double Ironman Triathlon within the thirty-six-hour maximum timeframe six times!
Here’s what I really love about his story though.
Years ago, when interviewed about how he was able to push past his fear to complete six double Iron Man Triathlons, he gave a simple but profound answer:
“I’ve learned to talk to myself rather than listen to myself. When I listen to myself, all I hear is fear, doubt, lies, and failure. But when I talk to myself, I can tell myself anything I want to. I can feed myself good thoughts of hope, confidence, truth, and victory. I can tell myself I can do it. When I learned to talk to myself rather than listen to myself, I realized that there was nothing I couldn’t do.”
You don’t have to wait to feel positive, hopeful, or confident. You have the power right now to tell yourself anything you want. You can tell yourself that you can do it, you will change, you can reach that goal, and you will chase that dream.
So, the next time fears, doubts, or lies start swirling around in your head, confusing you and keeping you stuck, remember you don’t have to listen to them. You can doubt your doubts. You can talk to yourself instead.
As your words of hope and truth take hold in your heart, watch how your actions follow. You may have a breakthrough right around the corner. All you have to do is talk yourself into it.
